Madison Neeley, hunt seat riding instructor and trainer started riding at a young age. She has successfully competed and trained students on the PSJ, BRHJA, SCHJA, and NCHJA circuits. She is extremely knowledgeable in all aspects of instruction, training and horse care. Her specialty is hunter/jumper/equitation lessons with a major emphasis on safety, correct basics, and equitation.
Madison rode with multiple trainers throughout her younger years as a noncompetitive rider. During high school, Madison trained with Harriet Morton of Cricket Hollow Stables where she rode, taught lessons, worked on the property daily caring for twenty horses, showed on the PSJ and BRHJA circuits, participated in on-site clinics, schooled horses and assisted management during Lander University's IHSA horse shows on property, etc.
She also received her instructor certification through CHA, Certified Horsemanship Association at age 18. After her certification, she was a riding instructor at Camp Illahee in Brevard, North Carolina. She instructed children ages seven to seventeen and assisted barn management and the care of over twenty horses daily, throughout the summer.
During part of her college career, Madison trained with Bill Payne of Penn's Wood Stables. She successfully competed during that time on the BRHJA and NCHJA circuits with her horse, Montego Bay. She schooled numerous horses on the farm and managed the farm and horses when the trainer was off the property.
Madison moved on to become a riding instructor for Oak Run Stables during the latter part of her college career. She taught lesson to beginners through advanced students of all ages. She also worked during that time managing the property and care of over twenty horses every weekend while in college. She trained horses and schooled boarders' horses and lesson horses when needed. She continued showing mainly on the BRHJA circuit and also competed in the Harmon Hopeful shows.
Upon graduating from Clemson University, Madison moved back to Greenwood where she continued working for Cricket Hollow Stables teaching lessons and working on the property. She was able to work as a traveling trainer and spent time working for Fern Field Farm during this time as well. She traveled as a trainer for Fern Field's students to the SC State Fair horse show and the Festival of Flowers horse show. One of her students went on to qualify for the IEA region finals in equitation on the flat and over fences for Zone 4. Madison also has also previously judged and assisted in managing shows.
Madison moved to the beach later and began teaching hunter/jumper/equitation riding lessons and training at Peachtree Equestrian Center. She has taken the program from a few to over 30 students currently. She always teaches the "how" and "why" of riding theory in order to create effective, educated, well-rounded riders. Lessons are based on safety and are tailored to each riders' goals. Madison also travels with students to local schooling shows and to NCHJA, SCHJA, BRHJA rated shows.
